Tuckered Out

So of course the one weekend we had sooo much to do, I get sick and end up having to be in bed the whole time. You should see all the projects Chris completed though...he really made a dent in the ol' list! Major thanks to my BFF Claire (she sure can rock a paintbrush) and my dad who was over a bunch last week helping us out (he has the right tool for everything)!

Seriously though, you guys know the children's book If You Give a Mouse a Cookie?? That's all I can think of as we complete each project, getting our house ready to sell. You make one improvement, then you see another you should do, which makes something else look glaringly outdated...it never ends! I'm just exhausted thinking about it! So, I think I'll just go back to bed. (Ours not nearly glamorous as this one designed by Betsy Burnham and featured in Lonny.)

Cecilies Lykke

I could literally spend all day reading Scandinavian blogs, hopping endlessly from one to another. Yesterday I discovered the dreamy gem Cecilies Lykke, where the Norwegian blogger Cecilie fed my soul with her beautiful, enchanting photography. I adore her home filled with pretty pastels and soothing whites (in true Scandinavian style!) Her charming bedroom above is a finalist in the "Summer Paradise" challenge over at NIB. Love the original turquoise wallpaper, breezy sheer curtains and colorful glass bottles catching the summer light. Paradise indeed! Visit here for more!

Thanks for all the get well wishes yesterday, you guys are so sweet! They worked their magic and I'm feeling much better...just in time for the weekend! (Seriously, how often does that happen?!) Have a wonderful weekend everyone! :)

I have always been a big fan of the color turquoise which is why I was so excited to guest blog for Erin of The House of Turquoise. I love that this site is devoted entirely to one of my favorite colors. The variations of what exactly the color turquoise is, is what makes this color so fun. Aqua, sea foam blue, teal..there are endless possibilities. Which is why I find that turquoise is almost as neutral of a color as it is an accent color.

The guest room in my house is off the garden and pool so several years ago I decided that a complimentary theme for the indoor/ outdoor feeling would be a room with turquoise accents.

Inspiration from textiles and embroideries helped me choose the decor palette.

I wanted the room to feel restful but also evoke the idea of vacation. I had some old vintage wallpaper that I hung inside the panel molding and then realized that I must like this look.. I had this vintage lace dress that reminded me once again how close fashion and home decor are. The color of both the paper and the dress were perfect.

I then added more to the turquoise theme with an old vanity.. love this color blue as a stronger accent in the room.

The bedding and textiles are from a collection I designed and fit perfectly into the overall look. Everyone who stays here always wants to stay longer. There is something about the color and its smooth relationship to the outside elements that makes the room dreamy and comforting.

More of Annette Tatum's inspirations can be found on her design blog, and in her book, The Well-Dressed Home. Browse Annette's Home Decor Collections at AnnetteTatum.com. This week only, use code "turquoise" at check-out for 10% off your orders (until Friday 5/6).

Brandon Barré

I've shared this heavenly bathroom designed by Candice Olson before, but when I discovered the corresponding bedroom in the portfolio of Toront0-based Brandon Barré I was delighted! What a beautiful, cozy cove! It would be such a luxury to have a wall like that, opening up to a private deck. Then to have such an amazing bathroom in the other direction?! Dream space!!!

Exciting News!!!

Ok so really I just want to tell you my big news, I can't wait much longer, but how awesome is this bed I found in the October issue of 25 Beautiful Homes?! To have an upholstered bed like that...what a dream!

Now my news! Last night I got engaged!!! I still can't believe it! The last 14 months of my life with Chris have been the best of my life. I never thought I'd meet anyone like him...a heart so filled with absolute kindness and enthusiasm. And so cute and smart too! I feel like the luckiest girl ever. Talk about a total surprise...never in a million years did I think that would happen, like it did, yesterday of all days. But it was perfect, so us. I'm so happy. So so so happy!!! And so so so excited!!!

Someone pinch me...I still can't believe it!!!

Wren's Big Girl Bed

If you've been following along, you know how much I've loved the precious nursery belonging to little Wren, the daughter of Holly of Life in a Fun Lane fame. She has created such a darling space, with the most beautiful furniture and soothing colors. I've thoroughly enjoyed seeing Wren's room transform as she's grown a bit older, and now that she has her very own big girl bed, I just had to share! You can see what it used to look like here and here! And for more pics and to see what Holly has to say about it, go here!
