Just how awesome is this bathroom belonging to San Francisco interior designer Blythe Friedmann of Urban Gypsy Design?? I love all the vintage touches! That neat old bathroom door with the "bath" sign on it is the cutest thing I've seen all day. And I'm really digging the row of mirrored cabinets. Blythe also designed the above restaurant called Weird Fish in San Francisco. Has anyone been there? It has such a cool vibe to it! Cool Cabana
I love how this image evokes summertime like nothing else! Designed by Robert Passal, the room is actually the interior of a cabana from a Bergen County, NJ home. (You can see the rest of it here, it's a beautiful home!) I can just imagine coming in here to cool off, grabbing a nice cold beverage, and having a little chat with that cute dog! (Don't you love interior shots with animals?!)
Brooke Steuart
When I spotted this vacation home belonging to designer Brooke Steuart on the blog Low Tide High Style, it was the turquoise island that immediately caught my attention. After that initial shock passed, I noticed so many other details that make this a true dream kitchen. Love the bursts of orange and turquoise accessories, the glass tile on the backsplash and stairs, the collection of shells displayed in the island...not to mention the Viking appliances! Isn't it all so pretty lit up at night too?! To see even more of this beach home, head over here!
Jamie Drake
Can you tell that Jamie Drake designed this incredible foyer featured in Connecticut Cottage and Gardens? It's so full of energy and vibrant color, I wasn't surprised at all. I think my two favorite features are the gorgeous grasscloth wallcovering from Phillip Jeffries and the striped stair runner by Tai Ping that you can barely see in the corner. Turquoise and yellow...I can never get enough!

Boutiques Concept Design on Eyewear Gallery Store Interior
This stylish and natural unfinished wood interior design of concept fashion boutique and eyewear gallery store is designed and fabricated by Ilan Dei Studio. The store is located near their design studio and workshop in Venice, California. The design intention takes cues from a variety of inspirations, ranging from the Eames bent plywood processes and skateboard construction to the sand dune formations and ocean waves seen along the neighboring coast. moldresdes
Encore from the musical tree, to celebrate arbor day!
Happy Arbor Day USA, Ok I know it’s a bit late, but ye should really make it a week like we have here in Ireland, that way I won’t miss it.
So another short and quirky post today as I have to go to work shortly. This post is for those of you who are (were) celebrating Arbour day.
This video is of a piece of music by Diego Stocco, a sound designer & composer, who creates eclectic musical experiences with custom built instruments and experimental recording techniques.
For this video, Diego said
In the garden of my house there's a tree with lots of randomly grown twigs. It looks odd and nice at the same time. One day I asked myself if I could create a piece of music with it.
Well here is your answer.
Personally I feel a bit sorry for the tree, but it is entertaining and worth a watch.See more of Diego's crazy videos on his website www.diegostocco.com/

Summer lovin'!
I am feeling the summer vibe big time today! That first image completely drew me in when I saw it on photographer Kip Dawkins website. It's just so...me. The colors are FABULOUS. Man-oh-man do I love all of that bright and breezy fabric! And rightly so...the image is actually an ad for Trina Turk's line of indoor/outdoor fabric for Schumacher. And I thank Brabourne Farm for finding the middle image from the portfolio of photographer Russell Sadur. Long live turquoise and lime green!
Shell House 'Nautilus' New Mexico
A few months back while researching for my post The Shell House at Ballymaloe Cookery School, I came across this very different and quite literal Shell House. This story may not be really garden related, but it's so wacky and fun, I'm gonna post about it anyway.
This amazing house, the ‘Nautilus House’ was built in 2006 by Arquitectura Orgánica, for a young couple with two children from Mexico City who after living in a conventional home wanted to change to one integrated to nature. The goal of this project was to make it feel like an internal inhabitant of a snail.

The goal of this project was to make it feel like an internal inhabitant of a snail.
“The metaphor was to feel like an internal inhabitant of a snail, like a mollusk moving from one chamber to another, like a symbiotic dweller of a huge fossil maternal cloister.– Javier Senosiain, Architect
This home social life flows inside the Nautilus without any division, a harmonic area in three dimensions where you can notice the continuous dynamic of the fourth dimension when moving in spiral over the stairs with a feeling of floating over the vegetation.”
