"No beige allowed!" declared the owners of this Chicago apartment to interior designer Melanie Elston. More specifically, they wanted their home to be vibrant, cheerful and full of color. (My kind of people!) Despite the different colors and patterns used throughout, the home really flows from room to room. I seriously cannot tell you how much I love the chairs upholstered in the always-fab "New Wave" in Capri from Old World Weavers layered with the Kelly Wearstler rug. Parlour Farm

I hope you all had an great holiday weekend! We are so happy to have Charley home! Boy it was a long drive back from Arizona, but we saw so much and had a lot of fun on the road trip. Happy to report our 4 animals are getting along nicely too! :)

This super cute kitchen in a late 19th-century cottage located in the heart of England was recently renovated by Parlour Farm designer Nick Grunfeld. And when I say renovated, I mean up, down and all around...custom-built from the cabinets to the handles. I love that they have all the modern amenities and tons of work area, but the room still has an original feel to it. And of course, the darling blue cabinetry! Guest Blogger: Erin from The Impatient Gardener

Hi everybody! I'm Erin, but not the Erin you're used to seeing here. I'm Erin from The Impatient Gardener and I'm thrilled to be guest blogging on House of Turquoise today.

Erin (the other one) does such a wonderful job posting inspirational spaces featuring one of my favorite colors so it's no surprise that the spaces I saw here on House of Turquoise influenced many of the rooms in our house, which underwent a pretty substantial renovation last year. You can read about the renovation here, but it can be more or less summed up by saying that our goal was not to make our house bigger, just better. We had the top of half the house (an old Cape Cod-ish cottage located about 500 feet from the shore of Lake Michigan in southeastern Wisconsin) taken off and put back on higher, allowing us to add much more usable space, including a second bathroom.

Turquoise and blue (along with a healthy dose of gray) featured prominently in many of the rooms.

The bathroom was the most fun to decorate and we went all out because it will probably be the only bathroom we'll ever design. It's a relatively small bathroom—8 feet square—but we fit in a sizable shower, vanity and lots of storage.

The master bedroom stayed basically the same size as before the renovation, but it feels twice as big thanks to the addition of windows on the east wall and a high ceiling.

In the hallway I made a small gallery wall. It's really the only place we display family photos so we have everything from a wedding photo, to pictures of our dogs and cat to a great black and white photo of my grandmother. At the bottom is a board we uncovered when we took the roof off that says, "Put here July 11, 1938." I put it in a shadow box with some linen fabric on the back. I also hung a piece of driftwood that I've been hanging onto for awhile just because I thought it was interesting looking. I collected a variety of frames for the wall and painted several of them different shades of blue mixed from paint I had laying around.

SolusiProperti.com, SEA Games XXVI yang diadakan di Palembang, Indonesia, banyak menarik perhatian. Bukan hanya pertandingannya saja yang menjadi perhatian khusus, namun desain arsitektur dari bangunan stadion Akuatik di Komplek Olahraga Jakabaring, Palembang.

Desain arsitektur yang dirancang ini sangat berbeda dengan desain stadion pada umumnya yang sudah ada. Desain arsitektur stadion Akuatik ini dibuat menyerupai bentuk kepompong.




Rizal Abdullah selaku Ketua Komite Pembangunan SEA Games (SEAG) XXVI, mengaku memang desainnya lain daripada yang lain. Begitu megah dan sangat berbeda yang dapat mengundang keingintahuan masyarakat untuk dapat melihat langsung stadion tersebut. "Dan karena bentuknya yang unik yang menyerupai kepompong, itu merupakan nillai tambah untuk bangunan tersebut", ujarnya.

Namun sempat terjadi kendala dalam proses pembangunannya. Yang pertama dan yang paling menjadi sorotan publik dalam kasus korupsi yang di lakukan oleh para pejabat, yang salah satunya adalah Nazaruddin, selain itu juga waktu penyelesaian pembangunannya sangat mepet. Namun akhirnya dapat selesai tepat pada waktunya. Dan bangunan ini juga akan menjadi sebuah tujuan wisata menarik di Indonesia.










Selain stadion Akuatik, desain arsitektur menarik lainnya terlihat pada Wisma atlet Jakabaring, disusul pelataran Stadion Gelora Sriwijaya Jakabaring, arena ski air, serta taman di depan Danau Jakabaring yang menjadi bagian depan arena menembak dan voli pantai.[fps]

SolusiProperti.com, Dari apa yang saya pahami, banyak orang benar-benar menginginkan kursi seperti ini dan bahkan menganggapnya sebagai satu-satunya kursi di dunia yang paling indah. Saya harus mengatakan bahwa itu berlebihan, belum lagi realistis. Tentu, kursi ini sangat eye-catching tapi itu hanya karena sejumlah besar rincian tentang hal itu.





Ini lebih seperti kursi trofi yang satu akan digunakan untuk penampilannya yang mewah dan tidak ada yang akan berani duduk di atasnya. Butuh waktu yang sangat lama untuk membuatnya tapi itu karena masing-masing batu harus diterapkan dengan tangan, satu demi satu, dengan menggunakan pinset dan alat pembuatan perhiasan. Dan ini bukan alasan yang masih cukup baik untuk membuat kursi ini berharga. Di bawah semua gemerlapan batu yang digunakan untuk menjadi kursi kayu solid. Setelah beberapa tahun kerja yang intensif, kursi sekarang terlihat seperti itu. Bagi seseorang yang menyukai kemewahan dan gemerlapan, kursi ini mungkin terlihat indah.[fps]

Penginapan ini terletak di Rockford, Illinois dan dirancang secara khusus oleh legenda arsitektur untuk seorang veteran kursi roda, selama tahun 1949 dan 1952. Rumah satu lantai ini menampilkan bentuk elips yang indah dan menempati area seluas 2500 meter persegi. Menampilkan tiga kamar tidur dan dua kamar mandi, cocok untuk hidup keluarga.













Rumah Kenneth Laurent menampilkan desain interior custom made, dengan beberapa item menarik, semua termasuk dalam penjualan.
